  • WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A HOLISTIC NUTRITION COACH?
To me, being a holistic nutrition coach means viewing each individual as a whole person—beyond just their body and physical health. True well-being is shaped by so many interconnected factors, including mind, body, soul, spirit, culture, preferences, and intellect. No two people are the same, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health. Rather than simply addressing symptoms in a black-and-white manner, I take a deeper look at the bigger picture. While some aspects of health—like lab work—are straightforward, things like body weight and nutritional intake are much more complex. Many factors influence what we eat, how much we weigh, and how our bodies function, including fluid balance, muscle and fat percentages, mental wellness, stress levels, and lifestyle. My coaching is rooted in understanding these nuances and guiding clients with a compassionate, personalized approach. By considering all of these elements, I help my clients create sustainable, fulfilling health and nutrition habits that honor their unique needs, values, and experiences. This is why I consider my practice a holistic one—it’s about seeing, supporting, and empowering the whole person, not just isolated symptoms or numbers.
  • I NEED HELP LOSING WEIGHT! WHAT DIET DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Well + Good does not promote diets or partake in diet culture. Diets, cleanses, and detoxes are triggering to individuals with disordered eating patterns and eating disorders. Diets, which prioritize restriction and labeling foods as good or bad, are unhelpful, unsustainable, and lead to negative body image in the long-term. Well + Good does not praise thinness, which is rooted in racist ideals, NOT in bettering one's health. At Well + Good, we offer bias-free care focused on adding to your life, not taking away from it. You may hear me use the word "diet", when describing "the foods you eat." You may also hear me reference the "Mediterranean Diet," this isn't like The South Beach Diet or something wack like that, it's just me referencing foods historically eaten in the Mediterranean region of the world, such as olives, red wine, fish, etc.
  • I HATE GOING TO THE GYM. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ACHIEVE MY GOALS?
I hear you! The gym isn’t for everyone, and honestly, I get it—gym bros, bad music, weird grunting… not exactly the most inspiring environment for everyone. But here’s the thing: You don’t have to love the gym to love moving your body. Movement should feel good. It should empower you, boost your mood, and help you feel stronger and more confident. Exercise isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about functionality. Maybe lifting weights helps you carry your groceries up a long flight of stairs without breaking a sweat. Maybe staying active means you can sprint through the airport and actually make your flight on time. Fitness isn’t about punishing yourself; it’s about feeling free, capable, and well. Not loving the gym doesn’t have to be a roadblock. We’ll work together to find ways to move your body that fit your lifestyle, routine, budget, and preferences. Health is never one-size-fits-all—your body, your biology, and your needs are unique, and they deserve a unique approach. Let’s find what works for you so you can feel amazing in your body. Let’s get there together!
  • BUT I'M STILL YOUNG! WHY DOES IT MATTER IF I EAT HEALTHY?
Balanced nutrition is essential for individuals of all ages. Eating a diet rich in nutrient dense foods promotes a longer, fuller life, and helps prevent heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. No matter what age or health status you are, it is never too early to adopt healthy dietary and lifestyle habits. Come on, I'll make it fun!
  • DOES EATING HEALTHY HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE?
Food does not have to be expensive to be healthy. Let's talk about how some of the most nutritious foods available have very reasonable price points. All of the fruits (fresh, dried, frozen), all of the veggies (fresh, dried, frozen), all the legumes and beans (you can make your own freaking hummus!), whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, oats, all more affordable in bulk). Meat in moderation (buy small quantities of good quality meat and make it a few times a week). Same goes for eggs! It's when you purchase specialty items that you start running into higher costs. These are things like brand name gluten free pancake mix, brand name dairy free yogurt, beyond burgers, specialty dark chocolate peanut butter cups, etc. (that kind of thing!) We can keep it simple and make a budget and you'll be buying and cooking nutritious foods without stressing about money in no time.
  • DO I HAVE TO RESTRICT CALORIES AND CUT OUT MAJOR FOOD GROUPS TO LOSE WEIGHT AND GET HEALTHIER?
All foods fit. Let me say it again for the people in the back. ALL FOODS FIT! It is more about what you add to your diet than what you take away. Cutting out entire food categories (all meat, all sugar, all carbs, etc.) just makes you want that food more, AND in an unbalanced way. I recommend eating what you love regularly (you can have desert everyday!), just focus on more moderate portion sizes. The longer you tell yourself you can't have a food that you love, the more you will want to binge out on it, and the more miserable you will feel about yourself when you finally do. And the cycle only continues. In terms of caloric restriction, NO, this does not give your body adequate fuel to exercise, slows your metabolism, and it makes you crabby, straining your relationships. Let me show you a better way! 🙂
